A Day of Making Up

Diego and I have been fighting a lot lately. We've been having a hard time, and almost completely broke up on Friday. I almost had to force him (well, actually I did, which isn't a good sign) to take this day for just the two of us. After all, however, we had a really good day, and tensions are lessened.

Like my hat? "She said I'm a skater girl, she said see ya later...." Posted by Hello

Diego likes to drive with the window open, which I totally hate. For one, my hair flies around, and I end up looking like some crazy person when all is said and done. For another, I'm paranoid about pollution. I heard on the radio (which is always a reliable source of information) that people are more likely to get cancer if they spend mass amounts of time in their cars and on the freeway. The report said that there are so many toxins and carcinogens flying around out that. These get through your air conditioning filter system, and people breathe them in. I figure that if he keeps the windows open while driving all the time, it's like equivalent to smoking or something. Maybe even worse. Sometimes, when he's been driving around East LA and Commerce and comes to see me at night, his face, neck, head, etc., smells really bad and dirty. It's because he leaves the window open, and he's being hit by all these toxins which are attaching themselves to his face and body. :( Yet, he really likes his air, however polluted it may be. I resolved myself, for this day, to wear one of his hats.

Diego the pimp Posted by Hello

Our first stop was glow in the dark minature golf. I saw this on someone's webpage online. It looked different so I wanted to go. Right when we got in, they had this shop of glow in the dark memorabilia. I had Diego put on this pimp hat.

Who's your daddy??. Posted by Hello

These hats were actually only five dollars apiece. I thought that was a great bargain. They had other ones too, like birthday cake hats, etc. If I had more money and interest, I totally would have bought one.

Diego being attacked by a shark Posted by Hello

The place was actually much smaller than I had imagined. All of the "courses" were crammed together in a very tiny space, and there were people everywhere. Kids were crawling out of the woodwork, and I began to feel out of place. We got our clubs anyways and stepped in line. Putting was slow, since everyone was so crammed together. We had to wait for the people in front of us to finish, and a line was building behind us.

They had some interesting backdrops, though. We gots some interesting pictures.

Diego with scary mushrooms Posted by Hello

There were all these weird mushroom props. I really, really liked the ones below. I thought they were hilarious, and they reminded me of Stephanie. I think she would love them. One's stupidly happy, one looks like it's gonna puke, and the third is totally grossed out. I love it!! Plus, there's a snail, which is like Stephanie's mascot!!

Dinosaur in front of the house. Posted by Hello

After mini-golf, we went over to Santa Monica. We saw all this weird stuff on the way. There was this one house with a dinosaur in its front yard. We were trying to find parking, and I yelled out "dinosaur!!!" This thing is actually protruding from this person's front wall. Of their house! How strange, says I.

Rooster car in Santa Monica, seen on the way to Father's Office. Posted by Hello

We also saw this weird rooster car. We were looking for a street, and I yelled out "chicken!!!" Who the hell drives this thing? It reminds me of one of those advertising cars, like for Red Bull or something with the big can on top, but this had no visible words or pictures. Go figure.

We ended up at Father's Office. I was reading Beth's blog and read that she went there. She said the food was good, and when I looked it up online, the reviews were very complimentary. It was an extremely small place (again, not what I imagined). We found a booth table and got ourselves some hamburgers. I was a bit worried because that had bleu cheese on them and all kinds of non-traditional elements on them. You can't order them any differently, and I thought I wouldn't like them. But actually, the hamburgers were really quite good. I'd definitely go there again.

We took a brief detour to Golden Apple (Diego's comic book place on Melrose), and then headed on over to Arclight. I wanted to see Ong-Bak, that Thai kickboxing movie. However, by the time we got there, the movie was 14 bucks. Neither of us felt like paying that much to see a movie we didn't even know was good. Regardless, I got the time wrong, and we were about an hour too early.

We ended up walking aroung Hollywood Blvd. I bought some dresses and things at Banana at Hollywood and Highland. We went to the Erotic Museum, which I don't recommend. I thought it was going to be like the one Stephanie and I went to in Paris, next to Moulin Rouge, but it totally wasn't. The highlight was when we got to play with lubed up sex toys in this clear enclosure. Yay. We also went into this tattoo parlour which had these weird pictures on the wall. They were kind of interesting. The guy told us there were more upstairs, so we ventured to ths second floor loft area. There was this office across an empty divide with a door that opened up into empty space. That was strange. The pictures on the "second floor" were creepy, and it reeked of pot. This only added to the surreal feeling, and I thought we were going to get stoned.

In all, it was a really good day.
