A Productive Day in 4th Period

I'm not even sure what we were doing in class this day, but some of my students got distracted by a project another student did. He made a model of some war. There were buildings and tanks and soldiers. Needless to say, they grabbed my digital camera (I think I should be more careful with my things. I leave my purse in an open place, I leave my keys (car keys and all) in my desk drawer, sometimes on my desk even, and my cell phone on the desk. I haven't had any trouble, actually, and I actually trust them. Well, not all of them, but I still feel secure about leaving my stuff out on the desk. I don't leave my classroom with things lying around, but still. I should probably exercise some caution, as temptation is always present. Leaving my stuff out like that may be unfair to them and their restraint, or lack thereof).

Below is a picture of two of my students. I'm actually not sure if it's legal to post this, but no one I know really reads this. I dunno. Someone tell me if this is legal.

Diego's Parents' Anniversary at Gloria's

On Diego's parents' anniversary, I went with them to this restaurant called Gloria's. It was actually very nice. The atmosphere was good, the food was good (and really cheap!), and there was live music (a mariachi band). I would like to go there again, but the menu is in Spanish, and the server didn't seem to really want to take my order in English. Even when I ordered water, he kind of looked at me, and Diego repeated it in Spanish.

I didn't know what to order. There was this thing at the bottom of the menu, and I asked what it was. I totally forgot what it's called now, but there's a picture of it below. It was beef, chicken, and chorizo in this spiced tomato sauce. It also had chunks of cheese on top and cactus hanging over the side. I don't like cactus. I had some in Ensenada when I went with Janelle, Lemor, and Daniel. It was cooked in eggs, and there really wasn't any flavor. Sort of made me want to throw up. This was probably different though, because it was in a sauce, but I still didn't eat it. I sent it home with his mom in a to-go box.

Diego's godparents were there too. They got his parents a pot. Diego got them a picture frame, and I got them a $40 gift card from Mimi's. I figured they could go out and have a nice dinner out, for just the two of them.

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, I went to Diego's cousin's house. They had a family get together. There was a lot of food. His mom makes this crab salad tostada thing that I think is so good. I was planning on eating all of it, but I only grabbed two of them. It was pretty fun. They did a whole bunch of egg hunts. Some of the eggs had candy in them, some had change, and some even had money. For the last few hunts, there was a five dollar bill in one of the eggs. I didn't really play, though. I had the wrong shoes on, and I didn't think that I'd be successful. There were so many other people playing, many of them very excited and competitive kids, and I didn't really stand a chance
